Opening a store of Italian products abroad: is that possibile? We receive messages every day from people who are planning to open a store of Italian products abroad and ask us for advice. Which products should one choose for the perfect assortment? Is it better not to miss the most famous brands (perhaps already present in the local large-scale distribution) or to give space to niche products, for example regional specialties? It is not easy to answer these questions on the spot. First we should identify the catchment area, understand which are the area’s competitors, study the predisposition of potential customers to Italian food. At the same time, however, we believe it is possible to give some important indications to allow those who have the idea of opening an Italian shop to choose the right products.
This week we will reveal which, in our opinion, are the 3 sparkling wines and proseccos that just can’t be missing on the shelf.
Made in Italy agri-food products are winning more and more consumers throughout the globe. Exports, in fact, reached 42 billion euros in 2018 and the year 2019 is going to close with further growth. Duties, currency speculations and protectionist policies do not slow down the desire to eat and drink Italian in the world. Germany, France and the United Kingdom are the best performing foreign markets, whereas the United States is confirmed as a preferred destination for the Italian agro-food sector overseas. The performances of the Scandinavian countries are excellent, with double-digit percentage increases. China, the Middle East, Australia, Canada and South America are developing positive trends that will certainly give great results in the medium to long term.
Wines, sparkling wines and prosecco are increasingly attracting the attention of consumers all over the world. The export of these products grew by 13%, with a total value of 1.5 billion Euros, only in 2018. For this reason, in our new section dedicated to giving advice to those willing to open a shop of Italian products abroad, we focus on sparkling wines and prosecco. Here are the three alternatives that should not be missing on the shelf.
Mionetto is one of the most prestigious Italian wineries in the world. Born in 1887 on the hills of Valdobbiadene, it produces a very high quality Prosecco, appreciated in Italy and in the world. boscaThe bubbles of Mionetto contain the tradition of a territory, but also all the modernity of Prosecco, the trendiest wine of the moment. The Charmat method, invented by Mionetto in 1982, allows, through fermentation in an autoclave, an optimal conservation of the flavors and aromas of Prosecco. The shelf of an Italian products shop shouldn’t be lacking Mionetto’s prestigious bubbles. Bell Italia recommends Prosecco Prestige: the most classic line of Mionetto. It certainly does not go unnoticed, thanks to the elegant bottle and the design of the characteristic inclined label. And it conquers even the most demanding and refined consumers, thanks to the unique and unmistakable taste of Mionetto.

Martini & Rossi’s logo would already be enough to embellish the shelf of an Italian shop in any city in the world. If we add the fresh and harmonious taste, the quality and breadth of this product, we understand why Asti Martini is so appreciated in Italy and abroad. It is made with the best Moscato Bianco grapes from the Asti area. It has a sweet, but not cloying taste, is sparkling and ideal to accompany sweets of all kinds, especially after a meal.

Our third proposal concerns a superior quality sparkling wine at a surprisingly affordable price: Bosca Anniversary. Each bottle represents a 188-year long history: tradition, but also constant innovation to guarantee each consumer a unique and sparkling experience. The Anniversary line, conceived on the occasion of the celebration of the company’s 150th anniversary, must not be missing, in our opinion, on the shelf of an Italian goods store. Sweet sparkling wine has a pleasant and delicate taste and is ideal to accompany fresh cheese and desserts. The brut sparkling wine has a balanced and strong flavor; its refined perlage and the fruity and floral aroma go well with important first courses, such as risotto with radicchio or tagliatelle with lobster. Both wines are fermented in autoclaves with the Martinotti method.
