The result was a new and delicious cream initially called Giandujot; it was 1946 and it was in that year that Pietro founded Ferrero.
Fortunately, his son Michele decided, several years later, to give the cream a different name: Nutella – da nut, «hazelnut» in English, plus -ella, an Italian suffix added to make the name more catchy. And it is probably also thanks to this decision that Nutella has such a worldwide success.
