International food & beverage fairs are one of the most important tools at the disposal of companies that want to expand their radius of action, and to fit into the foreign markets where they are not yet present and to introduce their products to new buyers and distributors. Although the internet has radically changed the ways of marketing and of communicating, the biggest international food & beverage fairs are counting more and more visitors every year, and allow B2B operators from every part of the world to meet and to establish working relationships.
There are many international exhibitions of relevance in the food and beverage sector; a strategic sector for our Country, the world leader for the quality of its food and wine products and absolute reference point for its capacity to combine innovation and tradition, taste and genuineness. It is no coincidence, then, if in Italy some of the most important fairs in the food & beverage sector are held.
But what are the 5 most important food & beverage fairs in the world according to Bell Italia? Let’s find out.
This fair is held in Cologne at two-yearly intervals. It is considered, by experts, one of the most important events at world level in the food & beverage sector. The last edition, held in 2017, hosted as well as 7.405 exhibitors and over 165 thousand visitors coming from 198 nations. The next edition will take place this year from 5 to 9 October. When it comes to the food sector, Gulfood is undoubtedly the largest annual trade fair event in the Middle East. The fair is held in Dubai in February, every two years. Over 100 thousand visitors and 5 thousand exhibitors from as well as 193 countries; these are the expected numbers for the 2019 edition (the 24th), which will consolidate the key role of the United Arab Emirates as a link between East and West, and in the growth of the global food market. The Vinitaly fair is held annually in Verona and is one of the most important world events dedicated to business and the promotion of the wine world. The 2018 edition (the 52nd) has seen some record digits; 4.380 exhibitors, representing 36 different countries, 128 thousand visitors from 143 nations and over 32 thousand validated buyers. Compared to 2017, the fair has experienced an increase in operators coming from the United States (+11%), Northern Europe (+17%) and China (+34%). The edition number 53 will be held this year, in April from the 7th to the 10th. Here is the official link.
The States are one of the most important markets for Italian agri-food products: almost 4 billion Euro is the total value of the sector exports, constantly growing despite a thousand difficulties (EUR/USD exchange rate and protectionist politics are the main antagonists); our Country is confirmed as the first US supplier of olive oil, pasta, cheese and balsamic vinegar. In such a context, what better showcase for Italian food & beverage products than the Summer Fancy Food in New York, considered the most important North American fair for the food sector? The event takes place yearly in the Big Apple in June, and brings together, in 33 thousand square meters of exhibition space, 2.500 exhibitors from 50 different Countries. Fancy Food is held every year in winter too, in San Francisco; the 2019 edition will start in a few days, from 13 to 15 January. Here is the official link.
Of Sial Paris, we have already spoken in a previous article, telling you about our fantastic experience as visitors in the edition of 2018, which was held in October. The fair is held every two years (the next edition will take place in 2020) and, quoting the official slogan, represents “the world’s largest exhibition on food innovation”. We have been impressed by the many interesting innovations too, which have been hints for new ideas, projects and already ongoing collaborations. The 2018 edition has collected as many as 7.000 exhibitors, coming from 109 countries: 700 of them (10%) were Italians! Here is the official link.
